Poem of the Day: Susan Connolly, Daytrip on the Enterprise

Going north of the border this week? Susan Connolly’s beautiful and practical visual poem can help!

Susan Connolly lives in Drogheda, Co Louth. Her most recent collection, Forest music, is published by Shearsman. Of “Daytrip” she writes:

“I wanted to write a poem using numbers instead of letters and I also wanted to depict visually the great bridge, the Viaduct, which spans the river Boyne in Drogheda, which the Dublin/Belfast, Belfast/Dublin Enterprise rumbles across several times each day. It is also a practical poem because it is a real timetable for an average Dubliner who wants a day out in Belfast, not leaving too early, not returning too late. I have another version of the poem for those who live in Drogheda.”
