Little Green Cars, Chequerboard, Sleep Thieves, Simon Cullen & Danielle Harrison all performing on the night.

It’s Upstart’s big poster giveaway with DJ’s, Bands, Performances, Speakers and Poster exhibition… Get stuck in to Block T (Smithfield) on Friday 14th October to celebrate the wrap of our poster project!

Upstart, the group who put art and poetry on the streets of Dublin during the Irish General Election Campaign 2011, are planning an evening of art and performance which will bring together artists, writers, volunteers and supporters to mark the close of the poster project, and to thank the people who made it happen.

In February 2011, hundreds of contributors submitted artwork, text, film, music and ideas as part of Upstart’s initiative to put creativity at the centre of public consciousness during the Election Campaign. The project engaged the interest of national and international media and captured the imagination of the public.

As a result of the massive response to the project, and the generous contributions made by all artists and contributors, Upstart plans to continue into the future and lead other creative projects.

Artists and the general public will once again have the opportunity to enjoy the original Upstart posters along with other music, film and performance submissions from 7pm -12pm on October 14th.

In keeping with the ‘Wrap’ theme, everyone attending will receive a wrapped UpStart poster on the night which they are free to unwrap, swap, wrestle, whatever, but it’s their own piece of UpStart history to own and cherish.

We are really excited to have Little Green Cards, Chequerboard, Simon Cullen (Synth Eastwood), Danielle Harrison & Sleep Thieves included in the line-up for the night. And we’re very happy to announce performances from poets Elaine Feeney, Anne Tannam, Sarah-Marie Griff, Raven & Cah-44.

It’s free entrance on the night for people who contributed to the call for submissions and a €7 entrance fee for non-contributors. And as always, it’s a BYOB event.

All proceeds from this event will be channelled towards the next Upstart project.
